IDENTITY THEFTS

In a front page article dated March 25th 2010, the South China Morning Post quoted the Managing Director of TransUnion Hong Kong as stating that the number of identity theft cases had risen sharply in recent months. This included the instances of fraud syndicates applying for credit reports. The public are urged to protect their personal data and to avoid posting personal information on social networking sites. Personal data is currently valued at $10-$20 HK dollars per item on the illegal personal data market.
